Lake Living Part 1 - This Is My Happy Place

Well, it's been almost 3 years since we bought our little vacation place out on a lake about 2 hours from where we live. I say vacation 'place' because technically I can't call it a lake 'house', because it's actually a trailer. I know, I know! But I swear to you I love that little trailer out in the woods more than you can imagine! Calling it a fixer upper is putting it kindly. It needs plumbing work, electrical work, a new air conditioner, the list goes on and on. We have made some improvements: new carpet in the bedrooms, switched the stove from gas to electric, painted etc. We also bought a golf cart off Craig's List to drive around on, and 2 used Jet Ski's from a friend of a friend. While this place may be short on style (for the next few years anyway), we have had so much fun there! From feeding deer right out of our hands in the front yard, to seeing wild turkeys run by, to campfires in the winter, to creating our own fire works show on the 4th of July, to Jet Skiing and swimming sun up to sun down, it is a blast! And while it's definitely not ready for a final reveal, I thought I'd share with you guys some of the items I've purchased so far to get the 'this is a beach house not a trailer on a lake' vibe that I'm going for!

First up, some items from Paper Source - they are amazing!

Yep, that sums it up. Get it here. OMG I learned how to post a link lol
And here's some more:

Well crap, my joy from learning how to post a link has been defeated by my ignorance on how to get these pictures to face the right way :(
Oh - and these milk bottles. I don't know what they have to do with the beach but I wanted them so whatever. Get em here.

Here's some of the Pottery Barn bedding I chose for the master bedroom:

Again - upside down - whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Can someone smart please help me out? Anyways, back to the bedding. Looks like the Atlantic Duvet and Shams are sold out. But you can cop the Isabelle shams right here.

Finally, here are the views from the front and the back!

More next time! And seriously - help me out with the pictures!!!! Pretty please?!?!

A few of my favorites from Stitch Fix

Since I didn't start my blog until Fix #8, I wanted to highlight 2 pieces I received earlier this year as well.
Up first, the Hetty Maxi Dress. I received this one in April of 2015.

I have a love/hate relationship with this dress. First, I can't decide if it makes me look too curvy. Clearly, I have hips. But if we are embracing the hips, it looks great, UNTIL I eat something. Heads up if you pin this one for your stylist - it is not forgiving at all! That being said, I'm looking forward to pairing it with the denim jacket I received in Fix #8 when it cools down. I have only worn this one once since I got it, so while it is cute, perhaps I should have sent this one back.

Next up, the Joy Eyelet Dress I received in June of 2015

This is hands down in my Top 3 of favorite items I have ever received from Stitch Fix. It is PERFECT. You can dress it up, dress it down, wear it to work, wear it out to lunch....you get the idea. Have I mentioned that I love it? Because I do!

Stitch Fix July 2015 Review

Alright guys, let's see if I can figure out how to do this!
For this fix, I asked my stylist to send white jeans, a denim jacket, denim vest, denim shortalls, and a panama hat if they had any (since I started using Pinterest I've noticed a lot of my pins contain these items). So, here's what I got:

The first item I tried on was the 41Hawthorne Kasey Stripe Hem Fit & Flare Dress (size S).

First off, no, I don't have shoes on. I'll try to work on that next time ;)  And, yes, I realize you can't see my face. This is all new to me and definitely outside my comfort zone, so baby steps, right?! Anyways, back to the dress. It's a keeper. The material is super lightweight (but not see through). It has a cute keyhole opening in the back. The only downside is it seems to wrinkle fairly easily. How do I already know this? Because I wore it to work yesterday!
*** Update - I am wearing this dress for the second time, and have realized I should have tried to exchange this one for an XS. Still like it, but an XS would have been better!

Next up, the Just USA Anjuli Dark Wash Denim Jacket (size XS):

So, normally I wouldn't wear this jacket with this dark blue dress, but this was in the morning before work so I did the best I could. The pictures don't do this justice. It fits PERFECTLY. And it's much more wallet friendly than the denim jacket I have been eyeing at JCrew. 1000% a keeper. Oh, and it looks super cute with the arms rolled up as well!

Next, the Kut From The Kloth Kate Boyfriend Jean (size 2), and the Augustine Scoop Neck Blouse (size XS):

When I took this shirt out of the box, I wasn't super excited, but I tried it on and guess what? I like it! You will need a racerback bra if you request this shirt in your next fix. These jeans are great too. It says they are boyfriend jeans, but they don't fit like other boyfriend jeans I have (not as loose). I like that they almosttt make it look like I have a booty (sadly, I don't). The only thing I'm on the fence about is the fact that they seem to bunch at the knee a little.

Last up, the Shiraleah Rhoda Embroidered Clutch:

I actually request not to receive jewelry or bags in my fixes. I pinned a picture of the clutch from the stitch fix blog, but I was pinning it for the shorts the model was wearing, not the clutch. I should have made a note on the Pin (I'm not a Pinterest expert yet), so that was my fault, not my stylists.

Anyhoo, final verdict? I'm keeping everything :)
Between creating the Pinterest board, and requesting that Lisa G. styles all my fixes, my fixes are much more on point!

If you guys have any questions just let me know!

It's Amazingly Amber

Where to begin, where to begin. My original inspiration for doing this blog actually came from Stitch Fix. My fixes weren't where I wanted them to be, so I caved in and joined Pinterest to help my stylist get a better feel for what I wanted. I searched for Stitch Fix pins, and found so many items I wouldn't have found through the Stitch Fix blog. So, I figured I could return the favor and review some items myself, in hopes it will help someone else elevate their fix game as well.

About me - I love shopping. I love being outdoors. I'm technologically challenged (I have no clue how to download music, never had a facebook account, never taken a selfie, although I do like Twitter and now Pinterest). I'm pretty into subscription box services (for food, clothing, etc). I like to think I'm fun to be around and maybe even a little funny too!

So what am I hoping to get out of this? On the clothing front I'm hoping to nail down what my style really is. Hopefully this will give me some fashion accountability! I'm hoping this will make me better about taking pictures when I travel, since I will want to share them with you guys. And if I make a few new friends along the way, even better!

So, in honor of this blogs original inspiration, tomorrow I will post a blog reviewing the Fix I received over the weekend! Keep your fingers crossed that I can figure out how to post the pictures!!!
